One year ago today was one of the better days of my life. A dream come true. Visiting California, seeing the Pacific for the first time and capturing the Big Sur California Elopement of Nathan + Carina. They had hired me to capture their wedding in Toronto. A few weeks after they signed the contract, they got in touch and said they were thinking of eloping in California with a reception to follow in Toronto and would I be willing to join them as they eloped? It was, of course, a quick yes. This is what a truly tiny, magical and all around perfect wedding day looks like.
IN THE REDWOODS
Jess and I met Carina + Nathan mid-morning in the redwood trees of Glen Oaks Big Sur. They quietly got ready in their little cabin and walked together to their ceremony spot. They stood beneath the towering trees and exchanged the most beautiful vows. There were five of us. It was the most beautiful ceremony I’ve ever been a part of.
BIG SUR
After their ceremony, we drove up and down the coast of Big Sur, stopping wherever our hearts desired. It’s amazing that one coastline can offer such diverse views from red woods to meadows of flowers to cliffs. It was absolutely breathtaking and these pictures are definitely high on my list of favourites I’ve ever taken.
With the world changing quickly, I think elopements are the way forward. Small weddings full of heart, soul and beautiful views. I cannot wait to capture more days just like this. Be sure to read my recent article on what I think weddings will look like post-pandemic.
I hope this inspires to you dream of something that might be a bit different but just as wonderful.
