2019 was my most exciting year of travel yet – Nashville, New Orleans, California, Mexico, Newfoundland, Nova Scotia, Sevilla and Nashville (again). Nineteen different flights. Standing on each side of North America – overlooking the Pacific (for the first time) and savouring the Atlantic (once again). I got to travel with four very dear friends and shared two sweet trips with my husband – each to celebrate our respective 40th birthdays. This is 2019 in Pictures – travel.
I didn’t grow up near the ocean. I didn’t see it much as a child but in my adult life, my travels have taken me often to the edge of the sea. There is honestly no place I would rather be. There is something about the open sky, the salt air and the sound of the waves. It is peace to my soul. I think the ocean will always call to me. And I will always go.
So why do I travel?
I travel to unwind. To rejuvenate creatively. To take pictures again, for the pure joy of it. Some people I meet don’t understand this. And honestly, I get it. Travel is HARD. It costs money. It’s uncomfortable. It’s hard to leave the ones I love and board a plane. But in my life, I have always, always, always found it to be worth it. I hope that 2020 will bring a few more adventures. So if you, or anyone you know is getting married in some far off place, then get in touch. Let’s be adventurers.
Hear the waves run through the stones,
Still the mind and cleanse the soul,
I’m letting, we weren’t built to be alone,
Let’s take our time,
‘Cause you know we’ve got all night,
To slow to now. So walk with me,
Let’s forget the what-might-be,
And slow to now // Speak, Brother
